SecondLife, here I come…

In a previous post, I complained about not being able to run Second Life on any of my computers. Well that has now changed. No Kelly, I did not get a MacBook (although it would have been fun…I still have a IIcx in the basement!). I was out at Staples today (well, yesterday now) to get more index cards (I use these for many reasons, GTD, agendas, notes, etc.) where I noticed a sufficiently powerful graphics card at 60% off!

Now it is in the computer, but it is getting rather late here. Maybe just a couple of minutes…

Second Life – I guess the first is enough…

Given all this talk in the various IBM internal blogs regarding this Second Life phenomena, I decided to go ahead and give it a try – or at least try…

So I went over to the Second Life web site and registered for an account. That was easy enough and I did get one. I then proceeded to download the software. I did check the requirements and my home PC did not meet them, but I thought I’d give it a try. Well, no surprise, it didn’t work. Not even slowly.

So I tried the install on my work T42p. The installation process did not complain this time and I was able to start the software – only for it to be slower than swimming through molasse in winter. The bottom line is that I now have a Second Life, but no way of living it.

Actually, my first life sometimes feels like that too…

I guess I have to get a new graphics card. Now to convince “She Who Must Be Obeyed” of the necessity…
